Helichrysum 2012
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

95 points James Suckling: "Flamboyant young wine with crushed-raspberry, chocolate and orange-rind undertones. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Drink 2020."

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "...baked plum, espresso, dark spice, leather [...]. Bracing tannins support juicy cherries, raspberry, orange zest, licorice and tobacco. Fresh acidity lends balance. Drink 2022–2035."

96 points Decanter, TOP BRUNELLO 2012: "...floral and wild berry nose. The palate has great power but also superior balance, showing a fresh fruity vein behind the tannins and a long, broad finish..."

17+/20 points Jancis Robinson:" Intense... with aeration, pure cherry and raspberry. Fragrant, perfumed, cherry and raspberry palate, perfectly integrated acidity. Gorgeous chew and length."

Terroir
South facing vineyard at 450 metres. Sandy loam and volcanic soil mix, with marl veins.

Weather
A cold winter was followed by a mild spring, with adequate rainfall. Summer arrived hot and early, and the vines became very vigorous. Grapes ripened uniformly, albeit quite fast. In late summer, however, hot, dry days followed by cold nighttime temperatures slowed the ripening down, and ensured the quality of polyphenols and acidity. We harvested at the beginning of October.
